Client overview
Our customer is one of the fastest growing organizations in enterprise grade telecom software solutions. The customer delivers state-of-the-art software services to end-user organizations, which are typically Tier-1 telecom carriers in North America region.
Challenges
Our customer wanted to perform big data analytics leveraging the diverse data sources that they acquired. They were challenged by the sheer veracity and diversity of data sources that need to integrated and brought under same schema.
Our customer had their data residing predominantly on Oracle RAC data store and were worried about ever increasing licensing costs. They find it challenging to fund their data warehouse solutions on Oracle and were looking for cheaper yet better alternates.
The criterion for accepting the solution are stringent and posed significant Non-functional requirements (NFRs) of scalability, availability, low-latency and rapid deployment as more data elements are added.
Our solution
We were first tasked to evaluate the various big data solutions that are competitively available and set up the proof of concept or prototype solutions on them. Further we were required to compare their performance numbers and analytical capabilities for the data that our customer holds.
After researching and with collaboration from customers, couple of options were freezed to be contenders for long term big data solution. They were.
- Cassandra big data store with Hadoop as backend
- Mongo DB
After various prototype on data integration and visualizations, customer and InnoEye finalized Mongo DB as solution of choice. It offered good integration capabilities and yielded tremendous performance results in limited tests that were ran on it.
Value delivered
The software solution allowed with ability to manage & monitor ordering process and vendor delivery. Along with this, intuitive dashboards were provided to keep administrators in full control of ordering flow and vendor performance.
The end-to-end SIM order management enabled cross system integration of various pieces leading to overall solution to customer's business problem. Thus through single platform the heterogeneous systems could be controlled further simplified by LDAP integration & single-sign-on facility.
A low cost solution, heavily leveraging open source software, was delivered with classical service-oriented-architecture (SOA) implemented & RESTful Web services API for easy integration to third party solutions.
